Major challenges in the French seed industry

Seeds are the basis for agricultural production and, therefore, agricultural economic activity. The French seed industry is dedicated to serving the public good, which includes helping create the farming and gardening systems of today and tomorrow.

Notably, the industry is fostering the development of sustainable agricultural systems that will be able to respond to various challenges—including climate change, environmental issues, growing demand for food, and reinforce the rise of organic agriculture.

The French seed sector is also dealing with major questions related to variety breeding and plant genetic resources.
